Constitutional Law Expert and Family Law Reform Advocate

Attorney Stanley Charles Thorne (“Thorne”) directs his efforts primarily into state and federal court appellate work. Thorne has served as lead counsel, co-counsel, consulting counsel, or expert witness in a handful of carefully selected Constitutional test cases around the nation. In addition, he has made numerous radio and television appearances as a family law reform advocate. As a result, he is nationally recognized as an advocate for family law reform and as an expert on Constitutional rights of citizens in family courts.

Thorne's most valuable asset is his unique perspective on family law in America, a perspective shaped by over three decades of rich life experience as a student of the political process, historian, policy analyst, attorney, counselor, mediator, speaker, author, teacher, legal system insider, and father of two sons and a daughter, ages 23, 19 and 14.

Thorne graduated from Baylor University in Texas, one of the leading private universities in the South with a Bachelor of Arts, History, 1977; and Juris Doctor, 1981. A licensed attorney in Texas since 1982, Thorne has served a diverse clientele, including large law firms and the corporate legal department of a major independent energy company.

During the 27 years Thorne has been an attorney, he has been lead or co-counsel in numerous trials in Texas courts and quasi-judicial administrative tribunals, argued numerous substantive motions for which briefs or memoranda of law were submitted, and prosecuted extraordinary writs and substantive appeals in various state and federal appellate courts, including the Supreme Court of Texas (the state civil court of last resort) and the Supreme Court of the United States.
